Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

A Chemical Peel is a procedure that involves the application of a solution to the skin to remove superficial layers and stimulate the production of new skin cells. It tightens the skin, reduces wrinkling and sun damage, removes pigmentation/age spots and restores a more youthful appearance.

Indications for chemical peels include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots and uneven pigmentation
  • Shallow acne scars
  • Sun-damaged skin

A chemical peel is not a substitute for a facelift but may be performed in conjunction with such procedures. Peels cannot eliminate excessive or loose skin. The procedure is performed in the office or under regional/general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. A superficial peel usually results in some redness and medium/deep peels can result in blistering followed by peeling, which can last up to two weeks.
